True Crime Hong Kong: First Impression

True Crime series is the most enjoyable sandbox type games I have played so far. There are some problems in the both True Crime games i.e. Streets of L.A. and New York City, but the idea of combining martial arts and gun fights in a free roaming environment is simply brilliant. Now Activision plans to publish another True Crime game called the True Crime Hong Kong. As the name suggests the game sets in Hong Kong this time. Probably the intense action Hong Kong movies were the major inspiration for taking it there this time. You play as an undercover cop named “Wei Shen” who tries to beat the bad guys and bring them to their knees.

Recently I had the chance to take a look at some of the features of the intense game. If I tell it to you straightforward, the game looks very good. The visuals are outstanding and the nights in Hong Kong are marvelous. The sight of paper lanterns in the alleys and neon signs on every building makes it very beautiful as far as the graphics are concerned. Just like the previous True Crime games, the main focus is on hand to hand combat system. Our character i.e. Wei Shen clearly knows a thing or two about kung fu. This time around the martial arts is more impressive than ever. I saw Shen performing some interesting stylish attacks. There are counter attacks which lead to many different moves. The part I liked the most was when Shen grappled the enemy and threw him in a dumpster, at an electric circuit or hold him against his will over a fan to brutally reshape his face.
