Introducing Atlona’s LinkCast HD Wireless Video Streaming System

Earlier this year, Atlona, a company that began making HDMI cables and adapters, has introduced the LinkCast High-Definition wireless system. The system is designed to wirelessly send 1080p uncompressed video via five gigahertz WHDI frequencies. What’s great is that the system can send HD video streaming wirelessly up to forty feet away.

Atlona’s LinkCast HD video streaming wireless system features a large base station that will be connected to the HDtv. A small, USB dongle will be plugged into the HDMI source output of a laptop, Blu-ray player or game console.  This wireless video streaming system is designed to be plug-and-play which means that users won’t need a driver to be able to install the device.

This HD wireless video streaming system is said to support DTS digital audio as well as Dolby Digital audio. Priced at $300, the main unit will include a receiver and a dongle. You can purchase additional dongles for $120 each.

During the demo showed by Atlona at a CES event (prior to the release of the system), the device encountered some compression issues but it is possible that an interference in the event caused this. According to a rep of Atlona, when the system was tested earlier, it showed a trouble-free performance.

The unit has been launched just last March, and with the growing number of people who rely on wireless video streaming, the company is positive that the LinkCast HD wireless video streaming system will fare well in the market.
